Curtis had just boarded a flight to New York City for her scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when she learned that wildfires were rapidly approaching her Pacific Palisades home.
Although she later confirmed her house was spared, many of her neighbors lost everything. Originally on the show to promote her new film, Curtis became emotional when the fires were mentioned.
“I’m literally about to cry,” she said, reacting to the audience’s warm applause. One fan even shouted, “You’re beautiful!” Fighting back tears, she continued, “As you know, where I live is on fire. The entire Pacific Palisades is burning.”
She recounted receiving alarming texts while on the plane, realizing the disaster unfolding. “It’s f**ing gnarly, you guys. A catastrophe.” Heartbroken for those affected, she added, “Friends, markets, schools—everything is gone for so many.”
Her emotional moment resonated deeply with viewers.
