Adam hadn’t visited his mother, Diana, in years, focusing on his life after college in New York. Their communication dwindled, and Diana felt increasingly lonely. One day, needing documents from her home, Adam decided to visit without informing her. Upon arrival, he was shocked to find their house abandoned and in ruins, covered in cobwebs and overgrown grass.
Panicking, he asked their neighbor, Mr. Green, what had happened. Mr. Green revealed that a storm had damaged their home, and Diana had moved to a nursing home because she didn’t want to burden him. Overcome with guilt, Adam hurried to the nursing home, where he found Diana frail and in a wheelchair. When he saw her, he fell to his knees, sobbing, and apologized for neglecting her for so long.
Diana, touched by his presence, tried to comfort him, but he insisted he would never let her be alone again. He promised to take care of her. He repaired their home, moved Diana back in, and invited his girlfriend to live with them. They formed a loving family, prioritizing Diana’s happiness. This story teaches us to cherish our loved ones, regardless of how busy life gets.
