Xueli Abbing’s journey is one of resilience and inspiration. Abandoned as a baby in China, she had no idea she would one day grace the pages of Vogue. Born with albinism, she faced stigma and misconceptions, but after being adopted by a Dutch family, she was raised in an environment that encouraged her to embrace her uniqueness.
Her modeling career began at age 11 when her mother connected her with a designer running a campaign called “Perfect Imperfections.” This led to a breakthrough moment when photographer Brock Elbank’s stunning portrait of her went viral, catching the attention of Zebedee Talent, an agency promoting diversity in fashion. In 2019, one of her portraits was featured in Vogue Italia, marking a major milestone in her mission for inclusivity.
Xueli has since modeled for top brands like Kurt Geiger and walked runways worldwide. She uses her platform to challenge stereotypes, advocate for people with albinism, and push for true representation in fashion. “Diversity should be normal,” she says.
Her story proves that beauty is diverse and that perseverance can break barriers. Follow her journey on Instagram, where she continues to redefine standards and inspire change.
