How many of you remember Bo Derek? For me, she’s always been a favorite, and when I found out what she’s been up to during recent years, I was even more impressed by this goddess.
Bo Derek, born Mary Cathleen Collins, became an instant Hollywood icon with her breakthrough role in 10 (1979). Her signature cornrow braids and stunning beauty cemented her status as a sex symbol. However, her journey to stardom was unconventional.
At 16, Bo landed her first role in Once Upon a Love, where she met director John Derek. Despite a 30-year age gap—and the fact that he was married to actress Linda Evans—the two began a relationship. To avoid legal trouble, they lived abroad until she turned 19, marrying in 1976.
John Derek heavily influenced her career, casting her in films like Tarzan, The Ape Man (1981) and Bolero (1984), though they received poor reviews. Beyond acting, Bo embraced political activism, supporting veterans and advocating against horse slaughter.
Following John’s death in 1998, Bo found love with actor John Corbett. After nearly two decades together, they married in 2021. Now in her 60s, Bo enjoys a quiet life in California, focusing on family, philanthropy, and her passion for horses. Though she stepped away from Hollywood, Bo remains a timeless icon of beauty, strength, and independence.
