Chris Pratt: From Humble Beginnings to Hollywood Stardom
Chris Pratt is a household name, known for his ability to transition from comedy to action-packed blockbusters. Born on June 21, 1979, in Virginia, Minnesota, Pratt grew up in a working-class family before moving to Lake Stevens, Washington. His love for acting emerged in high school, but after dropping out of college, he found himself in Maui, Hawaii, working odd jobs.
A chance encounter with actress Rae Dawn Chong, who cast him in her short film Cursed Part 3 (2000), set him on the path to Hollywood. Pratt’s breakthrough came with Everwood (2002–2006) and Parks and Recreation (2009–2015), where his portrayal of the lovable Andy Dwyer made him a fan favorite.
His transition to film gained momentum with Moneyball (2011), Zero Dark Thirty (2012), and Her (2013). However, it was Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) that catapulted him to superstardom as Peter Quill (Star-Lord). His personal life has seen him marry Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019 after his divorce from Anna Faris, with whom he shares a son. A devoted Christian and philanthropist, Pratt supports various charities.
